Taking a look at the three (really two) playing teams right now
This is the last time you will see anything here about the Boston Red Sox for awhile, because they stink. The score here says it all. Trade anyone you can and rebuild. It doesn’t matter that Chris Sale and Eduardo Rodriguez are out they would still stink. No one is hitting which isn’t expected, and when you combine that with the expected awful rotation, you end up with the worst team in baseball. Blow it up and start over.
The Boston Celtics finished up the 8 game season and will face off with the Philadelphia 76ers. The 76ers have turned into a worse version of last years Celtics, with locker room tension bubbling throughout the season. With Ben Simmons being out injured this match up looks a lot easier for the Celtics. Joel Embiid and Tobias Harris will definitely not go down without a fight, but without having to worry about Simmons as well, they can focus more attention on their two biggest scorers there. Celtics in 5.
As for the Boston Bruins, they really had a chance to put the Carolina Hurricanes down 2-0 in less than 48 hours, but blew it. David Pastrnak not playing didn’t help, and very well could have changed the outcome. The power play rebounded, but Tuuka Rask still was quite poor. You can’t be consistently giving up multiple goals a game, and he will need to get on track soon or this team will flame out. The defense couldn’t figure out how to get the puck out of their own zone for about 20 minutes at the end of the 2nd period and beginning of the 3rd, and that what cost them this game truly. Aside from that stretch the Bruins were the better team, but the Hurricanes scored when they had to and were able to tie it up. They are going to need better play from Rask, more aggressive play in both zones, and a new plan to get the puck out of the zone when the Hurricane pressure on the wings. Bruins fans should still have the utmost confidence that the Bruins can move on from this round, but going up 2 instead of having a best of 5 series would have made it a lot easier.
